Day 12, Continued

Lonelywood

Spreading out, and creating blinds on the bluffs surrounding the tomb, you wait.  ...And wait.  Eventually, the white moose makes its appearance, accompanied by an arctic fox.  The moose is no match for the hail of arrows that surprise it, and it takes off again for the woods while the fox breaks for the tomb entrance.  Elestrin hurries after it, fending off attacks, you follow behind.  The ambush works, the moose is dead.

”Will you let me out?  She has left me in this room to die.  I want only my freedom.”

From this day onward, I curse Ten Towns.

My sister Vurnis was murdered by the corrupt criminals of this town, and her body lies here. I pledge myself to Auril the Frostmaiden and will bring about the destruction of Ten Towns with my army of dark beasts. The spirit haunting Lonelywood, the beast lurking in Maer Dualdon, the polar bears around Kelvin’s Cairn, all serve me and my intentions. I am the blade of Auril.

If you are reading this, you have defiled the final resting place of my dear sister, Vurnis. Know this: As you read this, I see you. Your names, your faces are known to me. You will die a more gruesome death than the rest of Ten Towns. Your corpses will remain frozen in the stark tundras.  The look of desperation as you beg me for your pathetic lives, carved into your frozen faces to last the eons. The last word uttered from your frigid, blue lips before you die painfully, will be the name given me by Auril herself:

"Ravisin"

My Vurnis -- my Tootega, you will be avenged.

The Fox, Enerturaq tells you it and moose were awakened by Ravisin following her sister's death.

The fox tells you Ravisin’s sister, Vurnis, was slain by the retired assassin Iriskree Harrowhill, when she visited town to convince the people to start sacrificing to Auril. Something she does not deny when questioned.

Vurnis had been disrupting town meetings and trying to drum up support in taverns to include human sacrifice during new moons - something she believed would end the long winter.  Iriskree, the retired assassin from Luskan, recognized the potential dangers of Vurnis' attempts and decided to solve the problem as she knew best – by following Vurnis into the woods and stabbing her a few times in the back. Ravisin came to the area to exact vengeance after one of her awakened beasts found Vurnis’ dead body days ago.

Irisiskree also had a run in a mysterious figure.  Unaware of her prowess, he followed behind her for a short time, but she heard him coming. Leaving double-backed tracks, she waited for him to follow and jumped him from behind, sinking a dagger in his side then slashing across his left eye when he turned.

“He was fierce, more than twice my height. A few swipes with my dagger seemed to barely tickle him.  Reghed through and through - wore a wolf head for a cloak hood -  that’s as Reghed as it gets!  No beard though - strange for Reg.  Swung at me with a sickle a few times - hard and fast. I only got away when it got stuck in the side of the Scrimshander.  He said nothing, but he was intent on seeing me dead.  I have a lot of enemies that would rather see me that way, but I don’t remember pissing off any Reghed. I made it back through the woods hiding my tracks - tree well to tree well.  Didn’t matter, he was following me the whole way.  I made a lot of noise and got a few folks to stick their heads out of their windows. That’s what scared him off.”

stay the night in the Ramshackle, the abandoned inn.  The night is uneventful

In the morning you hear voices, go downstairs to meet Speaker Huddle and meet Finna Bristlehead.  You inform Finna all the owners now agree: the Five Taverns Center is for sale.  Finna asks more questions and withdraws her bid for the Ramshackle to head to Bremen

Unhappy, Huddle asks if you're going to buy the inn now, seeing as how you just scared off the only interested buyer in several years.  Inquiring, you learn it's for sale for 250 gp and will probably cost ten times that to get it back to its former glory.  You tell her you'll consider it, but don't have the means now.

You head to the docs to Quagswag.  Loading in the body, you shove off for open waters, making it out of view of town, you let the boat know to take you to Termalaine.

"Missing: Bazahilda Barrelhelm of Termalaine. Dwarven lass with a mophead of red. Last headed to logging camp to visit her brother, but never arrived. Credible information rewarded by Speaker Masthew of Termalaine."
